Chapter Book Recommendations – 05/27/11

Posted on: Friday, May 27th, 2011

Our final suggestions for chapter books this week are:

The Phantom of the Subway (Geronimo Stilton, No. 13) by Geronimo Stilton is one in a series of Geronimo Stilton books.  Geronimo Stilton was born in New Mouse City, Mouse Island.  He is the editor and publisher of The Rodent’s Gazette, New Mouse City’s most widely read daily newspaper.  His books are filled with rodent puns that both kids and adults will love.  The use of stylized font in this book is an interesting way of adding visual clues to the text.  After your kid reads the book, ask him “What was the offer that Trap made to Geronimo for information?”

Amelia’s Bully Survival Guide (Amelia’s Notebook) by Marissa Moss.  The guide is written as a notebook by Amelia as she begins 5th grade.  She’s now not only challenged by science class but has the class bully to contend with.  But Amelia lives up to the challenges.  After your daughter finishes the book ask her to “Tell about two exciting experiences that Amelia had at Space Camp.”
