Continuing with the theme of Graphic Novels begun in yesterday’s blog here are two suggestions for fun to read graphic novels.
The Alien From Outer Space: A Graphic Novel Adventure – by Erica Farber and J.R. Sansevere is a Critter Kids Adventure for kids in grades 2 – 5. It contains offset fact boxes explaining important vocabulary and reference details which support readers by linking factual information to the stories. To discuss this novel with your child ask the following questions: How much bigger is Jupiter than Earth? Were you surprised to learn that it would take 6 months of nonstop travel to drive around Jupiter? Explain why.
Shark and Lobster’s Amazing Undersea Adventure – by Viviane Schwarz. This book is appropriate for preschool through 2nd grade. Besides being a funny story, with a shark being afraid of a tiger, the book is bound on the top rather than side to help give the impression of being underwater. After reading the book, ask your kid “What happened when the monster woke up and roared?”
