With summer vacation fast approaching its time to start planning summer activities for your kids. If you’re ready then today’s book recommendations should be helpful. These activities will not only keep your kids busy but will encourage them to read, follow instructions and, depending on the project, use some of their math skills. Gorgeous Gifts: Use recycled materials to make cool crafts by Rebecca Craig is an activity book for kids age 9 – 12. This book show kids how to recycle material to make some really cool gifts. Besides being fun it teaches kids to be eco-conscious. It’s never too early to learn not to throw anything away in the trash that can be reused or recycled.
The Scrapbooker’s Idea Book by Katy Ross is for girls in grades 3 – 5 although boys may enjoy some of the projects too. The book contains instructions for 22 projects and has detailed illustrations for most of the steps. Most of the materials for the projects come from common household items.
