Tradition!! What’s that all about?

Posted on: Tuesday, April 10th, 2012

Tradition!!  This past week many of us celebrated Easter or Passover.  We are probably recovering from cooking and overeating.  Yet, that’s part of the tradition.  We may moan and groan, but we’re already looking forward to next year.
While the memories of our family gatherings are still fresh in everyone’s mind, make time for a short writing project with the kids.  Talk about the food, the family and the favorite parts of what happened around your holiday table.  These memories are precious and should be documented.  Encourage the kids to become the official recorders of your family’s traditions.  Help them look up your family’s history.  Share family pictures!  If the kids choose not to write (it may seem like homework) let them record their findings and thoughts.  Drawing pictures of what they learned is another way of recording.  Be sure to date everything and save it in a special place, so that this is too, becomes another family tradition.
