Book Recommendations – April 29, 2011

Posted on: Friday, April 29th, 2011

Keeping with the sports genre for this week here are three more sports books that your kids may enjoy.

The first one is My Soccer Book by Gail Gibbons.  This book provides all the basic facts about soccer.  Great for new soccer players and appropriate for 4 – 8 year olds.  The question to ask is:  “Which position would like to play and explain why.”

The next book is Hoops by Robert Burleigh makes you feel the action of the game with his poetic descriptions and great drawings.  Appropriate for 5 – 8 year olds.  You can ask your child:  “Using this book as a model – write your poem.”

The last book for today is Reading Rainbow Readers: Sports Stories you’ll Have A Ball With by Leonard Kessler.  It’s a great chapter book for 1st & 2nd grade readers and features five short sports stories.  The question to ask is:   “Why was Albert sad?  How would you feel if you were Albert?”
