Fairy Tales Book Recommendations – 05/11/11

Posted on: Wednesday, May 11th, 2011

Fairy tales are always a favorite – now trying reading some slightly different versions of the stories.

Cinderella Penguin, or, The Little Glass Flipper by Janent Perleman tells the Cinderella story except she recasts the characters as penguins.  There are some differences from the original version besides the really cute artwork.  The book is for ages 4 – 8.  After reading the story, ask your child “How are the traditional version and this version alike?”

The True Story of the Three Little Pigs as told to Jon Scieszka.  Ever wonder what the wolf’s version of the 3 little pigs’ story would be?  Here’s your chance to hear from Alexander T. Wolf as he explains that the whole Big Bad Wolf thing was just a big misunderstanding.  This book has received very high reviews on Amazon.  The book is for ages 4 – 8.  After reading the story, ask your child “Do you think the wolf was treated fairly?”
